2 Types Of Progressive Slots

The widespread popularity of progressive slots has given rise to a lot of questions about the different kinds available. Here we cover two basic types of progressive slots and give you the lowdown on each one of them.

The Stand Alone Progressive slots
As you may have guessed from the name, these types of machines are not connected to any other machines. In place of a fixed top jackpot, they instead get a certain percentage of the coins that are played and it adds that amount to the prize for the highest combination. These machines typically have a meter on the front that shows you the exact amount of the jackpot. The progressive jackpots that you can win with these stand alone machines is a lot less than the ones you can get from machines that are connected with each other.

In- House or Proprietary Progressives slots
These types of slots are made up of a number of machines that are joined together under the ownership of the casino. They may either be located in just one casino, or they may be connected together over several different casinos depending on the gaming company. Your chances of winning are generally higher with these types than with the big wide area progressive slots.
